Choosing an Antler Chandelier
Before you buy an antler chandelier there are some things to consider and make sure you know before making your purchase.
- Deer antler chandeliers can add that perfect rustic touch if you do your homework and make the right selection Is the person selling it the person that made it? Do they have other examples of their work they could send you pictures of?
- How long have they been making antler chandeliers?
- Is the antler chandelier made from real antlers, or is it a reproduction? Many faux antler chandeliers look real,and can cost a lot less, but plastic can break easily.
- What grade antlers did they use? Look for antler chandeliers that are made from number one hard brown select antler or Grade A naturally shed antlers.
- Are there enough clear photos of the chandelier that you feel you know exactly what you're getting? What is the weight and dimensions of the chandelier? How does that compare to your room size. You don't want to have your chandelier dominate the room.
- How many lights are there? What type of bulbs does it take, and are they included?
- Are the shades included also?
- Does it come with a chain, cord, etc. to hang it with?
- Is the light socket cover made with real antler?
- What are the shipping and insurance charges?
- How will the antlers be packed and what is the policy if the chandelier is damaged during shipping? You want to make sure that your purchase has sufficient insurance.
- Did they run all the wiring through the center of the antlers and are the junction boxes concealed? Are any screws or wires are visible? Is the whole entire fixture, not just the components,CSA/UL approved to comply with US and Canadian building codes and regulations?
